People are changing, adapting and moving ahead, or they are resisting and denying themselves the opportunity of becoming something better. Embracing your uniqueness and creating a concept around yourself and your business gives you the opportunity of limitless potential. A masterpiece is started from scratch and built up, and created by the artist. Likewise you too can build on what you have and develop the life and business you want. A movie script develops from inspiration and creativity. Creating a concept is not a destination; it is an act of growing on our journey of potential. As no two people are alike, the process and the extent of individual growth will vary for each of us.

Jack Collis, motivational speaker says, “If we aim to give our best at all times, under all conditions, to all people, we are setting the standard that will ensure we not only reach our potential but that we also bring happiness and contentment to our life.”

Every day we trade a day of work for a dollar value. It would seem important that we get a return worth what we give. Use your mind, ideas, knowledge, new concepts and innovation to make the most of your journey and reach your desired destination.

What is it that you want to achieve? You have the power to make it happen. If you want a lot, you must give a lot. If you want a little, you must give a little. Developing your spin, your concept, your story, your vision is about becoming the change. Changing who you are, to who you want to be. Your personal power is in your thoughts. By deciding and doing, you become the person you want to be.

You current vision may be blurry and unsure. Do you have a vague daydream, which you have accepted as purely a dream, something which will never be reality? The truth is that you become what you think. If you want to create wealth, then you have to have a strong and bright picture in your mind. Constantly thinking and fixing that picture in your mind will drive you to achieving your goal step-by-step. Work on your imagination. A concept that sets you apart from your competitors is important in today’s tough market. The standards needed to do business in this new market environment are going to be higher if you want to experience success. Your focus is on change. Change your attitude; change your behaviour and beauty services with your clients in mind. To adapt is to follow. To create is to lead. Focus on your concept and focus on your clients as your way to prosperity.

Seth Godin, author of the Big Moo, asks the question; what if everything is free, and you solely rely on donations? How would this change the way you do business? Would you treat your clients differently? How will you change your service to become so valuable in the eyes of your clients, that they would freely make a fair donation? What would you do differently to survive?

Eliminate the services and products that are no longer in demand or have too low profit margins. Update your salon every three years. Give it a makeover to keep it fresh and appealing. Keep an open mind; work with new products and new techniques and technology. Don't get stuck doing the same things year in and year out, while your competition releases exciting treatments and products and rakes in the profit.

To be exceptional you don’t just want clients to be satisfied. We want them to be impressed. When you are the same or similar to every other salon you become invisible. When you are different and exceed expectation, you become Remarkable.

Focus on keeping your current customers happy because they are your future profits. It’s easier and more cost-effective to get people who are already buying from you to buy more than to find new customers and persuade them to buy from you. If you are thoughtful and offer great service your loyal customers, most of them will be your customers forever. They will make up about 80% of your business and profits.  Following up with your clients and you will be rewarded. You will increase sales and build a strong client base. The follow-up will be one of the main reasons why so many clients will keep returning to you.
